WE ARE ALL FAMILIAR with the fleet of Foster Yeoman Class 59s that heralded the GM invasion. In 2001 there was an interesting development when No. 59002 was turned out in a bright new green and orange livery branded for ‘Mendip Rail’. This was the joint venture company used by FY and Hanson (formerly ARC) to run the heavy aggregates trains from the Mendips. Thanks to close contacts within the organisation, we were quick off the mark to commission a Lima model that was also supplied to collectors with a special commemorative enamel badge.
